Selkie gold and silver pendant

Selkies are mythological Celtic sea creatures that can shapeshift between seal and human form, shedding their seal skin to come ashore.

This one is half way between, leaping out of the ocean with her human top and golden shimmering tail. The patterns on her tail are inspired by tumbling waves and Celtic spirals. 

Each selkie is made to order just for you in Louisa's tiny home studio using a handmade, original stamp. The design is impressed onto sterling silver, and a layer of 24k gold is applied using the ancient Korean technique of Keum Boo. It is then oxidised to highlight the textures and polished to make all the raised areas shine.

Please note that adding gold in this way can result in a crackled effect - it is not the same as smooth gold plating.
