About Dog Star Silver

Dog Star Silver Jewellery is designed and handmade in Belfast by silversmith Louisa McCartney.  

Louisa has a passion for working with silver and experimenting with new techniques, and many of her pieces are born from curiosity and self-teaching.

Her love of jewellery began in childhood, inspired by the pearls, brooches and costume jewellery in her grandmother’s jewellery box. This fascination led her to work with cold connections such as wire wrapping and beadwork for many years. Eventually, she expanded her skills by mastering silver clay and training in silversmithing at Belfast Met before starting Dog Star Silver.

Louisa offers one of a kind designs, commissioned pieces and made to order work, and she also runs classes where students can experience silver clay jewellery making for themselves.

She is registered and insured with The Guild of Jewellery Designers - gold membership number: 5897
